FC Emmen brings transfer-free attacker Hoesen back to Eredivisie | Football

FC Emmen signed Danny Hoesen on Monday. The 32-year-old attacker comes over on a free transfer from the American Austin FC and signed a contract at De Oude Meerdijk until the end of the season.

With this, Hoesen returns to the Eredivisie after six years. The former youth international played in the Netherlands for Fortuna Sittard, Ajax and FC Groningen. In 2017 he moved to the United States. There he was not only active for Austin FC, but also for San Jose Earthquakes.

“We were still looking for more opportunities in the front, partly due to the many injuries,” says FC Emmen chairman Ronald Lubbers.

“Danny was transfer-free now that the competition in America has ended. He is a fast and agile attacker who, with his experience, can also be important for our team.”

FC Emmen hopes to avert relegation from the Eredivisie with Hoesen. The team of trainer Dick Lukkien is in sixteenth place. That would mean participation in the play-offs for promotion/relegation at the end of the season.
