The French cyclist Valentin Paret-Peintre (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) won this Tuesday the tenth stage of the 107th edition of the Giro d’Italia, over 142 kilometers between Pompei and Bocca della Selva, while the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) maintains the lead with more than two and a half minutes of advantage in the general classification.
The Frenchman achieved his first victory as a professional in a stage in which the escape was the protagonist with a very large group of 30 runners who commanded the race from before the climb to Camposauro. In that group there were some cyclists well placed in the general classification such as the Spanish Juanpe López (LIDL Trek), very combative throughout the stage, or the Italian Filippo Zana (Team Jayco AlUla), the best placed, just over seven minutes behind. With 35 kilometers to go, the Slovenian Jan Tratnik (Visma-Lease a Bike) looked for his chance of victory with an attack from afar on a terrain in which he handles himself very well due to his status as a wheeler and time trial specialist. His advantage came until the minute and a half on foot from Bocca della Selva, which was the final stage for the stage victory.
