A few weeks before Spring Training officially begins in Major League Baseball, the franchises continue to shield their rosters for the upcoming season, including the Chicago White Sox.
Those from the south of Chicago hit the table by acquiring the right-hander from the Boston Red Sox Franklin Germanwho was awarded in 2022 as the best Pitcher in the Minor Leagues of the Massachusetts organization.
In the trade, the White Soles sent fellow right-hander Theo Denlinger to Boston and designated Jason Bilous for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Spring Training.
Now German has a chance to earn a spot in the Majors with the White Sox, although he will have to fight for the spot in a group that includes several established players like Kendall Graveman, Joe Kelly and Reynaldo Lopez.
Although the sick leave of one of the best closers in the game, Liam Hendriks, could have conditioned this movement.

Franklin German was one of the Boston Red Sox promises
The 25-year-old German right-hander already has experience in the Majors, although his time at the highest level was short-lived, since he only pitched in five challenges since his debut, almost at the end of the 2022 campaign.
In that period he accumulated only four innings and could not show his best version, he was punished by seven hits, two of them home runs and they scored eight runs, with four tickets that left negative figures PCL: 18.00, AVE: .368, WHIP: 2.75 .
However, in the minors he did have a good performance with Portland (Double-A) and Worcester (Triple-A), where he went 5-2 with a 2.72 ERA, 7 SV and struck out with 64 coffees in 43 appearances in the mound.
With this trade Chicago White Sox adds depth to its bullpen and reaffirms its position to fight for the pennant of the American League Central division, a fairly affordable circuit, but in which they have not quite met the expectations of their fans.
