Marcel Sabitzer is now playing for Manchester United. The Red Devils had a gap in midfield for a short time because Christian Eriksen had to be out for several months due to an ankle injury. Sabitzer had already stopped training with the German record champions on Tuesday. In the evening he flew to Manchester to clarify the last details.

This was successful, and the medical check was also successful, so that Sabitzer signed a loan contract until the end of the season. “Sometimes in life you have to make quick and important decisions. When I heard about this opportunity, I knew it was right for me. I want to win and help the club achieve its goals,” said the Austrian on the website Red Devils.

Of course he also wants to play more in England. “I feel like I’m at the peak of my playing career and I can bring a lot of experience and energy to the team. I’m really looking forward to working with my new team and coach and playing in front of the Man United fans,” said Sabitzer.

With Nagelsmann to Munich

Sabitzer followed Julian Nagelsmann to Munich in August 2021 and has played 54 competitive games for FC Bayern since then. Recently, however, his chances of starting eleven appearances had dropped, the 28-year-old didn’t get a chance against Leipzig and Cologne, and in the home game against Frankfurt he was only substituted on in the final phase. In any case, it was clear from Konrad Laimer’s commitment, which was sealed according to kicker information, that Sabitzer would leave the club after the season at the latest.

“Manchester United expressed an interest in Marcel Sabitzer at the beginning of the week. Marcel explained to us that he would like more playing time and that he is convinced he can get it at United. After consulting our coach Julian Nagelsmann, we have granted the request and Marcel has signed until June 30 . Loaned to Manchester United in June,” said Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic on the Munich website.

Sabitzer has played in Germany since 2015, initially for six years at RB Leipzig, then in the Bavarian capital. He was previously under contract in his home country with RB Salzburg, Rapid Vienna and Admira Wacker Mödling.
