Olympic won 82-74 at Le Pommier against the Geneva Lions on Saturday in the traditional clash of the SBL. The Fribourgeois thus leave their opponents of the day at 8 points in the standings.
Petar Aleksic’s players were in the lead for most of the game. The 6-0 signed at the start of the last quarter allowed them to break away (66-53), and they ensured their success by taking a 17-point lead (74-57) at 4’59” from the end after an award-winning basket by Natan Jurkovitz.
Olympic has largely dominated the debates in the racket. The best rebounder of the game is certainly Geneva (Keith Clanton, with 11 shots), but the Lions have only captured 29 rebounds against 45 for Olympic. The Friborg substitutes also scored 39 points, compared to only 11 for the players off the Geneva bench.
Massagno assure
The leader Massagno resumed four lengths ahead of his runner-up Olympic on Sunday by beating Monthey-Chablais 80-75. Led 38-49 in the 25th, the winners of the SBL Cup turned the tide by signing a 21-3 partial to conclude the third quarter. They then managed their achievements.
Nyon also returned to victory on Saturday. Beaten in their previous three games in the league, coach Stefann Ivanovic’s men dominated Lugano 81-70 thanks in particular to 20 points and 17 rebounds from inside Devante Brooks. Union Neuchâtel for its part dominated Boncourt 72-63 on Sunday.
