After their accession to Regional 1 of Pays de la Loire (or Prenational), the men of Clisson Basket Star (in Loire-Atlantique) had logically experienced some difficulties at the start of the championship, but the players led by Mickaël Hodebar were able to rectify the situation.

Complicated start before the beautiful series

If they had been defeated four times in their first five matches, the Clissonnais had first of all chained four victories to return to the soft underbelly of the standings, before experiencing a positive ratio with four new successes in the last six days.

The latest was last weekend at home against Choltière-Paulx Mer Morte. With a final lead of ten points (83-73) and therefore a nice revenge against a team that won in the first leg (73-65).

Fifth, 3 points behind the leader

The Clisson team now occupies the fifth place of the Prénationale classification with 24 points (nine wins, six losses) and can consider a second successive climb, which would constitute a real feat.

Three teams from Nantes precede it, ASPTT (also 24 points), AL Garennes (25 points), Hermine B (26 points) when the leader – another Star, from Angers – is at 27 points . All are therefore held in a pocket handkerchief…

The objective remains maintenance. There are always the lot of injuries and everything can change very quickly. The guys are training well, we will continue like this and we will see where we will be at the end of the season. We will try to continue to play basketball well, to progress and take game after game. It is certain that for the moment the classification is rather good, the first three will go up to National 3 and the Angers club does not want its B team to be there…

Clisson dominating in the derbies

Two other teams from the Nantes Vineyard evolve at this level and stick together in a way since the Vertou Basket is currently 11e with 20 points, followed by the Basket Club Basse-Goulaine (20 points too).

They are five wins for ten defeats, and for the moment in the derby department it is the Clissonnais who dictate their law since they went to win at Vertou (68-62) after beating Basse-Goulaine (91-68).
