The Niners Chemnitz basketball players suffered a major setback in the fight for a good starting position in the playoffs. On Sunday, the Saxons suffered a heavy 58:79 (28:42) home defeat against third-placed FC Bayern Munich. Due to their eighth defeat of the season, coach Rodrigo Pastore’s protégés have lost touch with the top teams for the time being, but remain seventh.

Nick Weiler-Babb (23), Andreas Obst (11), Augustine Rubit, Ognjen Jaramaz and Niels Giffey (10 each) had the greatest share in the success of the guests. Jason George (12) and Wes Clark (11) scored the most points for Chemnitz.

The hosts were lost from the start. The Niners needed more than seven minutes for the first successful throw. At this point, Bayern were already 15:0 ahead and only allowed their opponents seven points in the first quarter. Chemnitz then ran behind a double-digit deficit over the entire season.
