Audomarois – The teams of the Planetarium de la Coupole hunted meteorites

Members of the Coupole d’Helfaut took part in a meteorite hunt! They are part of a network: Vigie-ciel, a network that trains volunteers to identify meteorites.

Teams from the La Coupole planetarium took part in a meteorite hunt. Last week, an asteroid penetrated the Earth’s atmosphere and meteorites fell in Normandy.

Researchers, enthusiasts and volunteers therefore went on site to organize hunts in a defined perimeter and find fragments. Fanny Musso, scientific mediator at the La Coupole planetarium.

Result, a fragment of 100 grams was picked up and ten were found in total. This scientific discovery is important and rare. Because even if meteorites often arrive in our atmosphere, finding them is quite exceptional. And above all, it gives a lot of information.
