Jannik Sinner will not serve in Marseille

That doesn’t happen often either: Jannik Sinner, who was supposed to start in the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Marseille on Thursday, withdrew due to an injury. Actually a chance for a lucky loser to take the eighth final place of the South Tyrolean. And actually Raul Brancaccio was intended for this slot in the tableau. But Brancaccio, like all the other failed qualifiers, had already left Marseille.

Which means okalmatador Arthur Fils advanced to the quarterfinals without a fight. Fils is now up against veteran Stan Wawrinka in the round of eight.

Tournament favorite Hubert Hurkacz had slight problems, who lost the first set against the young Swiss Leandro Riedi, but in the end still 4:6, 6:3 and 6:2. Hurkacz plays Mikael Ymer in the quarterfinals, who benefited from David Goffin’s withdrawal. Grigor Dimitrov presented himself strongly in the 6:3 and 6:2 against Gijs Brouwers. Dimitrov meets Alexander Bublik tomorrow.
