Bronze medalist of the Super-G world championships, a discipline where he rarely climbs on the podium, Alexis Pinturault was thrilled after his race.

It was a tanned and happy Alexis Pinturault who spoke after his fine performance in the Super-G of the Courchevel world championships. The French skier won his second world bronze medal in the discipline, while he only climbed on four World Cup podiums during his career (a single victory, in 2014). At the microphone ofEurosport, the recent combined world champion recounted all the emotions he went through: “It’s a great emotion. I think I experienced a bit of everything today. When I get to the bottom, I see that I’m in front of Marco (Odermatt), I tell myself that it must be a good perf. And behind, one after the other, Kilde passes me in front – well, it’s not a surprise either, he’s one of the big favorites in the discipline – and after James (Crawford) propels me to third place. Then it’s a long wait, hoping, gritting your teeth, having a lot of stress every time an athlete crosses the finish line. In the end, it’s a second medal in two races. It’s extraordinary ! Especially in a discipline where I’m relatively consistent throughout the season, but I don’t have many World Cup podiums either. »

Pinturault skips the team parallel

Asked about the continuation of his program for his fortnight at home, Alexis Pinturault confided that he was still going to compete in three events: “The parallel was optional, depending on the results of the first two races. It’s always been in the back of my mind, but unfortunately I can’t do everything so I won’t do the team event. The program is so made that we have to make choices, and my choice fell on the individual parallel, and then of course the giant and the slalom. (…) These are beautiful emotions, but they take energy. I expect the energy to fade, so the most important thing is managing everything around big events, and rest, which is as important as performance. “We will therefore find him on Wednesday on the sequel, then Friday and next Sunday. For new medals?
