Ajax U18 loses mini-classic and is eliminated in cup tournament

This was the live topic of the Ajax youth match on Saturday, February 18. The flagship of the training, Ajax U18, played at home against Feyenoord and lost the mini-Classic 1-2. The O16 managed to win 0-2 against the peers of Go Ahead Eagles, while the O15 lashed out against Sparta Rotterdam; the game ended in a whopping 8-1.

Ajax U15 has mercilessly lashed out against Sparta Rotterdam’s peers. At De Toekomst it became no less than 8-1. It didn’t look like it would be such a big final result within eighty minutes. Very little happened during the first twenty minutes, but after that the team from Amsterdam was immediately loose. Hasan Ayyildiz put his team ahead after 22 minutes and would become the eye-catcher of the match.

At halftime it was still 1-0 and ten minutes later the scoreboard already showed 4-0. Pharrel Nash scored, but Ayyildiz then added two more goals to his average. The latter was especially beautiful: a blast from 35 meters that left the goalkeeper without a chance.

So much for the midfielder’s goals. His teammates could also do something about it in the forty-minute second half. For example, striker Jonas Veltman put his team at 5-0 and Jivayno Zinhagel was good for the 6-0. Special attention to substitute Eternal Barron, who dribbled towards the backline shortly after entering the field. Where a cross was expected, he surprised the opponents by shooting at goal from a very tight angle and scoring: 7-1. Sparta Rotterdam did something in return, but that was much too late. As a blow to the arrow, Tim de Koning determined the final score at 8-1.

Ajax U18 was eliminated in the cup tournament on Saturday afternoon. The young Ajax players fell 0-2 behind against Feyenoord at Sportpark De Toekomst, and were unable to turn this backlog. With that, the team missed out on a place in the quarterfinals of the cup tournament.

The first half was mediocre from Ajax’s side. Although the first chance came from Amsterdam side after five minutes, it was Feyenoord U18 that opened the score. This after around the 18th minute Olaf Gorter lost the ball just in front of his own goal and Tommy Setford could no longer do anything about the enemy’s effort: 0-1.

Ajax U18 had no answer to the early deficit and created virtually nothing. It was mainly the arch rival that attacked the Ajax goal. This, incidentally, without success. A header from Yoram Boerhout in the 38th minute, however, was Amsterdam’s only achievement of the first half. A 0-1 score at the time of the halftime signal was a logical consequence.

In the second half, the young players of Ajax went looking for a quick equalizer. Boerhout and Idumbo Muzambo made an attempt in the opening phase, but this did not falter the defense of the team from Rotterdam. After an hour’s lead, the visitors even managed to double their lead; a shot from the left side of the penalty area hit the target.

In the remainder of the match, the team from Amsterdam tried to score the tying goal, for which Boerhout had the perfect opportunity from the penalty spot. However, the striker was unable to capitalize on the opportunity from eleven meters. In the injury time of the match, Neal Viereck managed to score the tying goal. Unfortunately, the talents of Ajax did not get any further than that, with which it was eliminated in the cup tournament.
