Croatia’s Matija Pecotic is astounding the tennis scene. The 33-year-old has fulfilled his dream and won a match at ATP level for the first time.

Financial professional defeats former top ten player: Croatian Matija Pecotic astonishes the tennis scene.

The 33-year-old fulfilled his dream in Delray Beach and won a match at ATP level for the first time. Pecotic, who has a full-time job as Director of Capital Markets at a real estate investment company, surprised American Jack Sock 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

“I’m speechless, and that doesn’t happen often,” said Pecotic, who threw his hands up in disbelief after the converted match point: “I had to stop work earlier today, my boss released me.” He will ask his boss, who was sitting in the player box, for another day off.

Health problems slowed Pecotic down

After a college career at Princeton University, Pecotic tried his luck as a professional in 2014 and reached his career high of number 206 in the world the following year. Then health problems slowed him down and Pecotic decided to pursue his professional career for the time being.

The current number 784 in the world never lost his passion for tennis.

In Florida, Pecotic now wants to cause the next surprise in the round of 16 against the American Marcos Giron.
