Yeboah’s arrival to Slavia falls through, the Cluj attacker did not pass a medical examination

At the same time, everything was on the right track. Slavia agreed with CFR Kluž on financial terms and Yeboah traveled to the Czech Republic to complete his transfer. But there was a hitch during the medical examination, the doctors discovered problems with the Ghana striker’s knee, specifically he was supposed to have a “worn out meniscus”.

At that moment, Slavia backed away from the intention to buy Yeboah. According to information from some Romanian media, the basic amount was supposed to be 1.7 million euros (41 million crowns), with bonuses the final amount could rise to 2.5 million euros (60 million crowns).

Kluž issued a statement regarding the unrealized transfer. In it, he states that Slavia wanted to borrow the player for a year on loan with the right of preferential purchase. “This option was not approved by the management of our club, especially after consultation with doctors with whom CFR has been cooperating for years and who, after a thorough study of the documents, did not agree with the opinion of the Czech doctors,” reads the statement. The Romanian club also refers to the fact that Yeboah has not had a medical in the last year difficulties and completed all training sessions and was able to play a match every three days.

The preview of the health status of the players can be different. And what seems okay to someone, can be an obstacle for someone else. Which was probably, as one of Sport.cz’s sources suggests, this case. Moreover, from Slavia’s point of view, it was not a small deal, the tens of millions of crowns involved are not small for her. She behaved cautiously.

But the negotiations ended and Yeboah returned to Romania. “Regardless of the outcome of these negotiations, we continue to respect Slavia Prague and appreciate the interest they show in our player,” concludes Kluž in his statement.

In addition, according to information from several sources, the Romanian club is not in good financial condition, an immediate transfer would help them. This could also be one of the reasons why they wanted to sell the young Ghanaian right away and did not go for another model.

Slavia continues to pursue Olomouc striker Mojmír Chytil, but Sigma has not yet approved the transfer of its important player.
