Two medals for the Csd Judo Sanremo at the 2023 Alpe Adria cadet Grand Prix

From the first cadet Grand Prix 2023 Alpe Adria in Lignano Sabbiadoro Csd Judo Sanremo brings home 2 medals and a seventh place.

Excellent debut for the boys of Csd Judo Sanremo Kumiai in the first grand prix of 2023 in a splendid setting excellently organized by the Yama Arashi Judo Udine company in the sports hall inside the Bella Italia & Efa Village village.

The accompanying technicians Ettore Guarnaccia and Giuseppe Mastrorillo bring two males into the race Erik Semanjaku (- 73 kg ) and Leonardo Moroni (+ 90 kg ), already in the first places in the Italian ranking list despite the change of category in 2023 .

Erik faces in a large and very difficult category one of the athletes who will arrive in the first places, he fights very well but the lack of experience and the age difference do not allow him to pass the round but his opponent, reaching the semifinal, recovers the Sanremo player who can face another meeting.

Moroni despite having gone to this race still recovering from flu shows his great talent by fighting 2 matches with very great and expert athletes and reaches 7th place which gives him further points in the national ranking.

In the afternoon it’s time for the girls (nicknamed by the group “the MOSQUITOES”)

Meluso Cristina -44 kg
Marini Federica -40 kg
Purple walls -48 kg.

Despite the fact that it is also their first experience in the 15-18 year old cadet category, they show great preparation and determination.

Meluso reaches the final after three narrowly won matches against strong athletes, losing only in the final due to an elbow lock (allowed in this category) by one of the favorites in the 44 kg.

It’s Federica’s turn who before the race is forced to make a difficult weight loss consuming precious energies that could have made her climb beyond third place, but the bronze medal is already a valuable result.

Mura Viola, on the other hand, is unable to go beyond the preliminary rounds in a prohibitive category in terms of numbers and technical qualities of the competing athletes.

The president Andrea Scalzo declares his immense satisfaction since knowing the excellent preparation directed by his technicians, the excellent level of competition, the tournament is one of the most difficult and demanding of the year, such a result is already a success, 2 medals out of five athletes present.

Next test for our athletes will be the European Cup in Naples on 11/12 February
