two matches in Germany and three in England in 2023

After the success of the first NFL game in Germany in mid-November 2022, two NFL regular season games will be played across the Rhine in 2023, the North American Football League announced in a statement Thursday.

As part of the 544 matches of its 2023/24 regular season, the NFL will play five matches on the European continent. Three will be staged in London – two at Tottenham and one at Wembley – with Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars franchises. Two matches will take place in Germany, with the participation across the Rhine of four franchises, including the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs.

The dates of the matches in Germany as well as the host cities will be announced later, but the NFL previously announced that Munich and Frankfurt would host NFL matches for four seasons. The first NFL meeting in Germany was played on November 13, 2022 at the Allianz Arena in Munich between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Seattle Seahawks, with a victory for the Florida franchise (21-16), in front of 67,000 spectators in the stands and 2.7 million viewers in Germany. The NFL has been exporting itself abroad by organizing regular season matches outside North America since 2007, on the model of what the NBA has been doing in basketball since 1990.
