Tsitsipas after a five-set win in the quarterfinals

The Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas fought his way into the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in Melbourne.

The fourth in the world rankings prevailed after four hours against the Italian Jannik Sinner 6: 4, 6: 4, 3: 6, 4: 6, 6: 3 and continues to play for the first Grand Slam title of his career. In the round of eight, Tsitsipas meets the Czech Jiri Lehecka.

Tsitsipas (24) has already reached the semifinals three times in Melbourne, this year he reached the round of 16 without losing a set.

At first it looked like another sovereign performance against Sinner (21), but then the South Tyrolean improved and forced the decisive fifth set, in which Tsitsipas managed the ultimately decisive break to make it 4: 2.
