Judo has been practiced in Heubach since the 1960s. Since November 16, 1994 there has been an independent sports club, the Judo Center Heubach. In order to promote the “judo offspring” in all age groups, there are regular beginner courses for boys and girls from the age of 6 who want to learn judo as a sport. As well as for older girls and women who primarily want to practice self-defense. The JZ Heubach currently has around 300 (mostly active) members. Well over 70% of them are children.

In 2011, the Heubach judoka were able to move to a new dojo. The new training hall is attached to the newly built Rosenstein hall and offers almost twice as much mat space as the old dojo.

Of course, good mastery of the basic techniques and constant practice also lead to success. In the short period of its existence, the JZ Heubach was able to provide more than 250 state champions and win the state championship in all age groups from U10 to U21 and adults. Top athletes from Heubach reinforce teams in the first and second national leagues (Backnang, Karlsruhe, Göppingen).

The JZH organizes a number of tournaments and championships every year, including the Rosenstein Cup tournament. Roots

1964 came Helmut Scherzberg from Hesse to Heubach and, in addition to stationery, also brought judo with him. A few young people from Heubach immediately felt addressed, including Frieder Buehler and Dietmar Knoll.

For training, they joined the boxing department of TSV Heubach and, lacking a mat, trained in the boxing ring.

In February 1966 a judo section was established and a mat was begged for. was the first department head Otto Hilsenbeckthe training was led by Helmut Scherzberg and Dietmar Knoll.

From 1968 to 1972 Helmut Scherzberg took over the management of the department, Dietmar Knoll increasingly took over the training work.

At the end of 1972 the judo section was on the verge of collapse. Frieder Bühler meanwhile fought in the national league team from Fellbach, H.Scherzberg and D.Knoll were too busy professionally.

In 1973 I took over the judo department with 25 members. Dietmar Knoll took over the training and slowly but steadily things improved. The first successes came Stefan Wiesenfarth became national champion Wolfgang Boehm, Sandra Gerber, and Martina Bernhard and several others found themselves in the country’s leaderboards.

Before each training session and at the end, the mats had to be put up and taken down in the gymnastics room in the town hall. Ralph, Pit and Theo always stood out. At that time (1978) a Herlikofer dived (Aschi) in Heubach. So far he had fought at Karlsruhe and Lohr in the Bundesliga, meanwhile he had settled in Heubach and strengthened the district league team (mostly in the heavyweight division with 70 kg) and took over the senior training.

A leisure group was founded, self-defense courses were held, 3 mats were purchased, tournaments were organized at state level, club championships and celebrations were held. A highlight was the visit to the twin town of Laxou.

Dietmar Knoll was very committed, he trained individual youth groups every day. He was supported by Frieder Bühler, who took over the A youth training.

The successes kept coming. Martina Bernhard would German champion. names like Funk, Böhm, Richter, Heinetc appeared in the winner lists.

In 1985 Frieder Bühler took over the judo department. It kept going up. In 1985, after 20 years as a trainer, Dietmar Knoll handed over young athletes to Klaus Aschmann, who is still actively and productively exercising this position today.

Under the direction of “Aschi” the judo department was separated from the TSV Heubach in 1995 and that Judo Center Heubach founded as an independent association. The association now has almost 250 members and is more successful than ever.
