It’s a photo that left no one indifferent in Toulouse. That of a club jersey, flocked “Mohammed Merah”, named after the Islamist terrorist who killed in Toulouse and Montauban in March 2012. Under his name, the number 7, like the number of his victims, three soldiers and a teacher and three children in a Jewish school. The scooter killer’s attacks also left six injured.

The club was quick to react on its official Twitter account: “A photo of a Téfécé jersey, with abject and shameful flocking, is circulating on Twitter. Téfécé protests this content, reported it as soon as it became aware of it. »

The TFC specifies that it is not at the origin of the flocking, and ensures that “the said jersey has not been treated by the teams of the official club shops”.

Many Internet users have expressed their indignation on social networks. A jersey, from the 2021-2022 season, deemed “shameful” and “despicable” by the vast majority of fans. A host of TFC supporters were also pleased with their club’s quick response to the shocking flocking.

An investigation opened for “apology for terrorism”

Internet users’ questions now focus on the origin of the photo. Neither the location nor the date of the photo are currently known. Neither does the identity of the person wearing the jersey.

An investigation for “apology for terrorism” was opened on Sunday, AFP learned from the prosecution. The “apology of terrorism by means of communication to the public online is an offense punishable by seven years of imprisonment”, specified the prosecution, without providing more details on this investigation “which begins”.

On March 19, 2012, Mohamed Merah shot and killed three Jewish children and a teacher in the Ozar Hatorah high school in Toulouse, after shooting down three North African paratroopers in Toulouse and Montauban the previous days. He was killed on March 22, 2012, after a 32-hour siege of his apartment by the Raid.
