The Magpies to Wembley, Experience the Final Again After 24 Years

KOMPAS.com – Newcastle United beat Southampton in the second leg of the English League Cup semi-final. This result made The Magpies advance to the final.

Newcastle United will host Southampton in the second leg of the 2022-2023 English League Cup semifinal or Carabao Cup.

The Newcastle vs Southampton match was held at the St. James’ Park on Wednesday (1/2/2023) in the morning WIB.

In the first leg at Southampton headquarters, Newcastle managed to bring home a narrow 1-0 victory over the home team.

Now, playing at home, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United appear to have kicked off from the start.

The Magpies were able to take the lead quickly through Sean Longstaff’s goal in the 5th minute, taking advantage of Kieran Trippier’s clever pass in the penalty box.

Longstaff scored his second goal in the 21st minute. This time, he broke into Southampton’s goal after completing Miguel Almiron’s bait.

Not long after, in the 29th minute, the visitors were able to reduce the lag through Che Adams’ goal.

Newcastle dominated the match more than able to maintain a 2-1 advantage over Southampton at halftime.
