The City Council promotes the High Competition Program that supports 39 teams from 21 Sevillian clubs within the Sports Support Plan that raises the line of subsidies to entities and programs above 1.9 million — Instituto Municipal de Deportes

39 non-professional teams from 21 Sevillian entities that represent the city in the highest national category will be beneficiaries of the High Competition Program that the Seville City Council promotes and that it has presented to players, coaches and managers.

This line of subsidies represents 240,000 euros that are added to the sport support strategy that in the 2023 Municipal Budgets reaches 1.9 million euros, the highest figure to date, to promote the activity of all citizens.

“The bet that the Seville City Council makes for sport is the guarantee of a better city. We are going to continue supporting and promoting the activity of all of us who understand sport as a healthy way of life, with the support of our entities, those who are just starting out and those who have been enjoying it for many years. This commitment is reflected in our budget with an important sports calendar, but also with support for clubs and associations as well as with investments that improve our facilities”, highlighted the mayor, Antonio Muñoz, during the presentation, in which he also The delegate of Ecological Transition and Sports, David Guevara, participated.

This planning has been manifesting a constant increase in beneficiaries that began in 2014 with 12 teams, in the 2015 season there were 14, in 2016 they went to 25 and in 2017 to 34, which has implied a budget increase of 20 percent compared to 2021 and 150 percent since 2015. The Sports Support Plan promotes Sevillian teams such as the Seville Athletes Association, Isibilya Triathlon Club, American football Linces, Marqués de Nervión, South Gymnastics Club, Sevilla Beach Handball, Claret College , Club Brújula, Triana handball, Nervión city table tennis, Club Amigos del Rugby, Sciences Rugby Club, University of Seville rugby, CB Sevilla women’s basketball, Synchro Swimming, Club Patín Irlandesas, Waterpolo Sevilla, Círculo Mercantil, Club Náutico , Club Piragüismo Sevidragon or Real Círculo Labradores, who participate in competitions of disciplines as different as rugby, handball, beach handball, water polo, table tennis, tria tlon and duathlon, American football, hockey, futsal or artistic gymnastics.

Parallel to the economic endowment, the municipal support also maintains the bonus of the use of facilities to carry out their training sessions or play matches, in addition to the advice in attracting grants and sponsorships. Also in this regard, the City Council has announced a contribution of 50,000 euros for the ‘Sharing equipment’ patronage program, a cluster of which many of these entities are part to promote the participation of the private sector in boosting sponsorship with a guaranteed performance.

The 2023 Municipal Budget is also completed with other lines for sports from educational levels, through the Municipal Sports Schools, which project more than 650 programs for 10,000 minors of all ages. The organization of sports competitions, aid for participation in championships or this high competition program make up the bulk of this line of subsidies that is complemented by similar actions, such as the summer sports campuses and municipal swimming pool campaigns. , sports and competitive programs such as the Municipal Sports Games and the calendar with more than 200 tournaments that the city presents in 2023, as well as the Investment Plan of the Municipal Sports Institute that last year reached a record figure of 7 million euros for all the facilities in which Sevillians practice sports in the city with all the guarantees of the Municipal Sports Institute.
