Tchouameni apologizes for his presence at the NBA game in Paris … while his teammates were playing

Currently injured, Aurélien Tchouaméni traveled to Paris to attend the NBA game between the Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons on Thursday evening. Except that, at the same time, Real Madrid were playing in the Copa del Rey against Villarreal, which forced the midfielder to publicly apologize.

His presence at the edge of the Accor Arena floor on Thursday evening was obviously not viewed favorably. While he had traveled to Paris to attend the NBA game between the Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons on Thursday evening, Aurélien Tchouaméni was forced to publicly apologize.

Absent from the field since January 7th due to a muscle injury, the midfielder of the Blues made a short trip to France… while Real Madrid played their 8th final of the King’s Cup against Villarreal (victory 3-2) at the same time.

Tchouaméni: “I didn’t do the right thing”

“I apologize to my club, the coaching staff, my teammates and the Madrid fans for my presence at an event at a time when we had a lot at stake in the Cup, Tchouaméni said on his Twitter account. I was attentive at all times to what was happening at Villarreal, but I didn’t do the right thing. I’m really sorry for that.”

Thursday evening, many sports stars were present in Paris to attend the second edition of the NBA Paris Game. From Gerard Piqué to Charles Leclerc, via Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon or Ciryl Gane, everyone wanted to be at the Accor Arena to applaud Killian Hayes, DeMar DeRozan & Co. Some obviously regretted it more than others.
