In the first match after the winter break, Standard was able to share the points with the visitors from Sint-Truiden with great difficulty. In the 92nd minute, STVV defender Bauer kicked next to a high ball, Perica unwrapped the gift.

Long wait for target danger
The first JPL game of the new year did not start tonight with champagne football.
After a closed and burly opening fifteen minutes, Standard was able to claim possession and take over control. STVV collapsed deeply and lurked on the counter.
Under the impulse of Donnum and Balikwisha, the home team created some chances, but goalkeeper Schmidt never really had to save.
The biggest chance in the first half was for Laifis who was able to head freely on a free kick. However, the Cypriot could not aim the ball within the goal frame and so the nets remained clean before the break.
Even after the break, it was a long wait for goal danger. It wasn’t until around the hour that Standard was able to increase the pressure again, but again without much threat.
A quick counterattack and a present
STVV did create enthusiasm because after a quick and rare counterattack, Hayashi just hit the opening goal against the ropes.
A quick combination over the right flank was hit completely wrong by Bruno. The Japanese took advantage and gave his team the lead.
A series of substitutions from Liège had to bring about change, but it was only the last two newcomers (Ohio and Canak) that could really pose a threat.
Deep into added time, a long ball was misjudged by STVV defender Bauer, allowing Canak to easily bring the ball in front of goal.
