Manchester City is eliminated from the Carabao Cup after losing to Southampton, current bottom of the Premier. Little or nothing was seen of the usual City, which is dropped from the competition.

Mara and Djenepo scored in the first halfthe first with a volley inside the area and the second with a great goal, to put Southampton twice ahead. An advantage they had deserved after several notices.

After the break, Guardiola opted to go restructuring the team with the entry of De Bruyne, Akanji, Haaland or Rodri, without giving result. City chained a lot of crosses to the area, but everything was cleared or caught by Bazunu and the defenders. Álvarez had the clearest with a toe shot, and Che Adams actually scored the third, but it was disallowed for offside.

Victory that gives Southampton a lot of morale and City is left with one less competition.
