The 2023 operation of the Yellow Pieces begins this Wednesday, January 11. Since 2019, Brigitte Macron is here President of the Hospital Foundation, after nearly twenty-five years of investment in this function by Bernadette Chirac. The coach of the France team, Didier Deschamps, has been the sponsor of the operation since 2019. Before him, other celebrities have invested body and soul with the Yellow Pieces, during trips to hospitals and events to promote small piggy banks and collect donations. This was particularly the case of David Douillet or Lorie.
The ex-judoka, David Douillet, was the godfather of the Yellow Pieces between 1997 and 2008. This charitable adventure allowed him to rub shoulders with the Chirac couple on a regular basis, and in particular Bernadette Chirac, with whom he crisscrossed the territory to meet elected officials, patients and nursing staff. “We did five or six cities per season, by train, while monitoring projects. When I was doing judo demonstrations, I managed to go to the CHUs where we had launched operations to check that things were progressing”told the French champion to the Figaro in 2016. From this commitment, was born a political vocation for David Douillet, who will then experience the exercise of power as a deputy and member of government.
Estelle Lefébure and Christian Karembeu also mobilized
On his side, Lorie was officially the godmother of the Yellow Pieces from 2008. But, she had not waited for this official title to commit, since she was already regularly present alongside the former First Lady of France. Already very active within the Enfoirés, the singer who has also become an actress has never hesitated to share her important aura with the French population. to give visibility to causes. Estelle Lefébure was also at the heart of the Yellow Pieces operation for many years. The ex-model was notably theambassador of the Maisons des adolescents for the Foundation from 2009.
Christian Karembeu also personally invested in the operation after his professional career. The former French footballer was the sponsor of the Yellow Pieces between 2011 and 2017. “We must work to ensure that hospitalized children and teenagers can, as much as possible, live in the hospital as at home. What a joy to see a child surrounded by his family, of his friends, of his games, in a playful and colorful universe, the first step towards healing has been launched!”, he declared on the website of the Hospital Foundation in 2016. If he is no longer a sponsor of the Yellow Pieces, Christian Karembeu remains mobilized. For example, in October 2021, he was alongside the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, during a charity football match, for the benefit of the Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris-Hôpitaux de France.
