The Under 17 championship resumed and PFV went to visit the leader of the Arona Basket classification, on the second day of the return leg of the qualifying round, and was defeated 56-43.

Beyond the numerical data, which refers to thirteen points of final difference, the match was hard-fought and almost never taken for granted, with the Vercelli/Ciglianesi/Saluggesi teams who fought well against the most popular opponents, playing practically on equal footing , but succumbing to the greater precision shown by the landlords in the final phase.

As can also be seen from the partials of the single quarters, the game was balanced for a long time, with the teams that were equal (16-13 in the first period) are in the middle of the second quarter (19-19) when the Arone players had a flicker which allowed them to close ahead 29-23 at halftime.

In the third period, however, the landlords knew how to score the decisive draw, thanks – as mentioned – to greater shooting accuracy and a few too many mistakes by the guests, so as to close on 42-30 in the 30th minute and bring the match to a close by controlling it on the strength of this gap of +12, which they essentially maintained until the final score of 56-43, rejecting the opponents’ comeback attempts.

The return to the ranks of Giorgia Carrozza (13) in the Vercelli home should be recorded, after a first part of the season spent at BC Novara, who, together with the confirmed Matilde Momo (18), also returned from the last game , after a long period of absence, they gave a good contribution especially in the offensive phase.

Now the Under 17s will have to make as few mistakes as possible to confirm their current ranking position which would allow them to qualify for the finals for the title, provided they don’t lose more or almost.

Next match on Saturday 14/1 at 15.00 on Alice Castello’s home court against the formidable Biellese Women’s Basketball.
