NFL: Sean McVay uncertain of returning to the Rams next season

Head Coach Sean McVay’s immediate future with the Los Angeles Rams is uncertain.

Sources tell ESPN that McVay will take time to consider returning to the helm of the team in 2023 after it played its final regular-season game on Sunday against the Seahawks de Seattlewho are still fighting for a place in the playoffs.

McVay is still hesitant and has changed his mind more than once, but he needs to take a step back after a turbulent year where he won the Super Bowl, was wooed by the media, got married, was shaken by the invasion of Ukraine, his wife’s country of origin, in addition to having had to deal with the death of his grandfather.

After the Super Bowl frenzy, the Rams fell short of expectations the following season. They are 5-11, which is McVay’s first losing record since being hired in 2017. The defending champions have been plagued by injuries, and sources say it has affected the coach . McVay, who is under contract with the Rams until 2026, would need to recharge his batteries and determine if he has the energy to take the collar again next season.

The 36-year-old recalled Friday that he is interested in a television job.

There are other big issues bothering the Rams, who are tight on the salary cap. They don’t have a first-round pick at the next auction, and they’ll lose offensive coordinator Liam Coen, who plans to return to Kentucky.
