NFL: Browns send Jadeveon Clowney home

Cleveland Browns defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was sent home at team practice on Friday, a day after saying he was almost certain he would leave the team at the end of the season.

“I’m 95 per cent sure I won’t be back,” Clowney said. But there’s still a 5 percent chance I’ll stay. You never know what can happen. »

“I feel like I have to surround myself with people who believe in me,” Clowney said. It can’t just be me believing in my abilities. I believe in myself more than anyone here. »

Clowney had 2 quarterback sacks in 12 games this season, his 2nd with the Browns. He had obtained 9 in his 1st campaign with the team.

Clowney started his career with the Houston Texans, then spent a season with the Seattle Seahawks and Tennesse Titans before joining the Browns. He has 43 quarterback sacks in 109 games.

The Browns are already guaranteed not to make the playoffs this year.
