As someone who has a footballer background, Kurniawan is said to be a prime candidate.

But unfortunately, he did not get a single vote in the PSSI Election Congress at the Mercure Hotel, Ancol, North Jakarta, Thursday (11/10/2016).

In that election, Edy Rahmayadi came out as the winner after getting 76 votes out of a total of 107 voters.

In a talk session on the Abraham Samad Speak Up Youtube channel, Kurniawan explained about fraudulent practices in the 2016 PSSI General Chair election.

“Is there still fraud in PSSI, fraud and so on?” asked Abraham Samad, who served as chairman of the KPK for the 2011-2015 period.

“What I heard, but I can’t be sure. I can only confirm that in 2017 I will be nominated as general chairman of PSSI,” Kurniawan replied, as quoted by BolaSport.com.
