Kim Meylemans makes successful comeback after horror crash, Elfje Willemsen helps her off the ice | skeleton

At the beginning of November, Kim Meylemans crashed heavily during training in Canada. The diagnosis: 2 broken ankles and a concussion.

Two months later she was back on the ice. Because she had to. Those who want to participate in the World Cup in St. Moritz in 3 weeks must be at least 3 World Cups.

In Winterberg she threw herself down for the first time today. Successfully. In a careful first run she clocked the 18th time, in the second run she surprised with a place in the top 3.

With a 9th place as the end result and Meylemans was visibly happy with that. She clenched her fist several times.

Rightly so, with two injured ankles she pushed herself more than nicely.

Elfje Willemsen was waiting for Meylemans at the finish. The former bobsledder, who now works for Team Canada, helped her compatriot with her sled.

Something that Meylemans greatly appreciated. After a hug, she stumbled off the ice.

The win in Winterberg was for the Dutch skeletoni Kimberley Bos. Beijing’s number 3 bounced over Canadian participant Mirela Rahneva in the second run.
