Through a press release, Energie announced the name of the new general manager, who was appointed Zdenka Macháčková Šimánková on January 19. After 32 years, Miroslava Vaňka takes over the management of the West Bohemian club.
“I assess the new job as a great challenge, which I am very much looking forward to and at the same time feel a great responsibility,” says Macháčková Šimánková for the Karlovy Vary website.
A long-time official, Vaněk worked in Energie’s management since 1990 and also participated in winning the historic title from the 2008/09 season. He left his position in October after the club’s ownership changed.

“I would like to continue the tradition of the club in Karlovy Vary, deepen the partnership with existing sponsors and establish relationships with new ones. The ambition is to move Energia further,” describes the first female general manager in the club’s history.
The current owners of Karlovy Vary insisted that the new boss live in the city and manage it on a daily basis. Macháčková Šimánková fulfills this condition.
Her goal is to move the West Bohemian team into the playoffs in the near future. “We don’t want to keep fighting at the bottom of the table and fighting for retention. We need a strong team and professional background,” he says.
“The Karlovy Vary hockey has a strong tradition and excellent youth education. We are happy that the city of Karlovy Vary, led by the mayoress, supports our efforts,” adds Macháčková Šimánková, who previously worked in telecommunications, media or education, especially in the field of finance.

For example, she participated in the growth of brands such as Eurotel, TV NOVA, Electro World or Mall.cz. Among other things, she understands working with subsidies and gained management experience as a deputy director in a school organization.
It is in the combination of sports and academic education that he sees the potential for personal development and high-quality and purposeful education of children and youth.
“I appreciate the support of the fans, Kotel Energie is doing a good job. I also believe that it will be possible to get more people to the KV Arena and support the winning atmosphere of home matches,” reports Macháčková Šimánková.
“Last but not least, I want to thank the new owners for their trust and I look forward to a nice job in Karlovy Vary,” he concludes.
