Juventus sanctioned, a decision falls

Juventus Turin have taken a long-awaited decision, following the heavy sanction imposed by the authorities.

On January 20, the Juventus Turin took a huge blow to the back of the head. Suspected of financial irregularities and non-compliance with financial fair play, the Old Lady was handed a 15-point withdrawal from the Serie A standings. In addition, the Federal Court of Appeal imposed heavy sentences against the former leaders of the Bianconeri, Fabio Paratici and Andrea Agnelli having respectively received a suspension of two and a half and two years.

Relegated today to thirteenth place in the Italian championship with 23 points, thirty units behind the leader Naples, closer to the red zone than to European places, Juventus Turin reacted to this terrible ax. Via a press release posted on its official website on Monday, the Piedmont club unsurprisingly announces its intention to appeal to the Italian Olympic Committee.

“Juventus Football Club and its legal team have read carefully and will analyze in depth the justifications, recently published, relating to the decision of the United Sections of the Federal Court of Appeal. It is a document, foreseeable as to content, with regard to the heavy decision, but tainted with obvious illogicalities, motivational deficiencies and unfounded in law, which the Company and the individuals will oppose by an appeal before the CONI Guarantee Commission within the set deadlines. The validity of Juventus’ reasons will be affirmed with firmness, but with due respect to the institutions that issued them.”

It is in this very heavy context that the men of Massimiliano Allegri, against whom FC Nantes will cross swords in the play-offs of the Europa League, lost on Sunday at home against Monza (0-2). Juventus Turin is going through dark times from all points of view.
