John Collins traded for Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt?

One month before the NBA Trade Deadline, the names of John Collins, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt are coming back more and more in the rumors. All of these guys are credible transfer candidates, and could even be traded to each other if recent rumors are to be believed.

In his latest special trade deadline report, Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports gave an update on the Jazz, considered one of the franchises that should sell in the next four weeks. Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt represent the main bargaining chips for Danny Ainge, and obviously the Utah boss is looking to Atlanta to find a transfer partner.

Direction Atlanta for Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt, direction Utah for John Collins, this is the basis of the deal which was discussed between the Hawks and the Jazz recently.

Collins – rumored every year – may be more likely to leave this year than ever given the current situation for the Hawks, who are having a very disappointing season and where instability reigns at the moment. We know that Danny Ainge has a weakness for the interior of Atlanta, which he already coveted when he was still in Boston. On the side of the Falcons, the arrival of two role players like Beasley and Vanderbilt would bring 3-points (Beasley), hustle and rebounds (Vanderbilt) to the workforce of Nate McMillan, who undoubtedly needs changes. Finally, in terms of salaries, it can also stick knowing that Collins weighs 23 million dollars and that we are around 20 million for the Beasley – Vanderbilt duo.

But then, where does it get stuck?

Also according to insider Jake Fischer, Ainge wants a first-round draft pick in addition to Collins. Let’s not forget that despite its surprising results this season (21 wins – 23 losses, 9th in the West), the Jazz is in reconstruction / transition mode after the departures of All-Stars Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert (not to mention Bojan Bogdanovic and Royce O’Neale). Danny therefore wants to continue to accumulate as many picks as possible through trades involving the Utah veterans. Except that it’s hard to see Atlanta letting go of John Collins et a first-round draft pick in such a deal.

File therefore at a standstill, but file that will have to continue to be monitored ahead of the trade deadline of February 9th.
