From the life of Grandma Emmi (23): Lucia does it: cabbage rolls

Grandma Emmi is representative of all the ladies from the suburb of Brambauer who have told me one of their fantastic stories and do not want to be mentioned by name.

Do you know the show “Magda will do that?”. The following story tells one of the experiences with just such a Magda – let’s call her Lucia here (who missed Lucia’s arrival, this “here“), who took care of Grandma Emmi’s mother.

Lucia lovingly looked after Grandma Emmi’s mother, only with the cooking there was a problem here or there. Therefore, the children had drawn up a cooking and shopping plan. On a Sunday there should be cabbage rolls, which Grandma Emmi’s mother loved to eat.
Grandma Emmi got the finished roulades from farmer Wulhorst and wrote down how to put them on the table. Her husband sat next to him, laughing, and remarked: “I hope Lucia isn’t surprised at the weird Germans who, in their obsession with avoiding plastic, go so far as to pack their chopped meat in cabbage leaves.” He got a nasty look from Grandma Emmi, who then explained to Lucia again how to do the cabbage rolls.
After a few days, Grandma Emmi’s mother asked: “Shouldn’t there be cabbage rolls? – On Sunday I had chopped meat with half-raw cabbage leaves.”
“I told you – cabbage instead of plastic,” Grandma Emmi’s husband spluttered. Grandma Emmi has not yet dared to try a second time.
