Frenchman Jason Tesson wins at Mitzic

Tuesday, January 24, the second stage disputed between Oyem and Mitzic (109 kilometers) was won by the Frenchman Jason Tesson.

The TotalEnergies training is celebrating in Gabon. After Geoffrey Soupe’s victory on Monday January 23 during the first stage which arrived in Oyem, another French rider distinguished himself on Tuesday January 24 in Mitzic, the arrival town of the 2nd stage of the Tropicale Amissa Bongo. Jason Tesson offers his first success in the sprint with his new jersey, he who was part of the Saint Michel-Auber 93 training in 2022. The former French amateur champion (in 2020), beat his teammate Émilien Jeannière and the Dane Alexander Salby (Bingoal WB).

Several runners tried to flee during this short stage, like the Rwandan Mugisha, the Algerian Cherki and the Eritrean Araya. Joseph Areruya, former winner of the Tropicale in 2018, was the first to try to get out of the peloton from the start of the stage in Oyem.

The TotalEnergies team continues its perfect course after the victory yesterday of Geoffrey Soupe, who retains his yellow jersey. On Wednesday, for the third stage, the peloton will set off from Lébamba to arrive in Mouila, with 123 kilometers on the program. For the first time, La Tropicale will visit the department of Louetsi-Wano in the south of the country. On very rolling roads, stage victory should not escape the teams of sprinters who will have the means to control breakaway attempts in order to favor a new grouped finish.
