Felix Sánchez no longer Qatar national team manager

The Spaniard Felix Sánchez will not sign a new contract as coach of the Qatar national team after the failed appearance at the home World Cup.

As the national association QFA announced, the working paper, which expires at the end of the year, will not be extended. Both parties have decided that this is “the best time” to “start a new phase”.

The 47-year-old Sánchez had looked after Qatar’s national team for more than five years and surprisingly led them to win the Asian Cup in 2019. At the World Cup a few weeks ago, however, the hosts had no chance and were eliminated without a point after the group games.

Qatar’s Football Association said it would determine the successor “at a later date”.
