NewTuscia takes action: Mayor of Ronciglione urges Lazio Region to protect Lake Vico’s habitats

NewTuscia – RONCIGLIONE – The Council of State ruled a few days ago on the appeal of ClientEarth and Lipu for the protection of Lake Vico with a sentence ordering the Lazio Region to act immediately – within six months – to adopt the necessary measures to counteract the destruction of the lake’s protected habitats.

In this regard, the mayor of Ronciglione Mario Mengoni intervened promptly with a note dated last Friday 17 May to the Region, which underlines the Administration’s willingness to participate in a technical/political table to collaborate in identifying those measures necessary to counter the “destruction” of the protected habitat of Lake Vico, therefore formally requesting its establishment.

“An issue of extreme importance for our territory – states Mayor Mario Mengoni – both from an economic and environmental point of view, on which our administration has always kept a spotlight on. Now the Lazio Region is called to intervene promptly, as required by the ruling of the Council of State. For this reason I thought it appropriate to demonstrate the desire of the Municipality of Ronciglione to be at the forefront on this front, proposing as soon as possible the establishment of a technical/political table that defines the actions to be implemented”.
