FC Barcelona: Ousmane Dembélé absent five weeks after his injury against Girona

He had not known any major injuries since November 2021. The glitches had left Ousmane Dembélé for more than a year. They caught him on Saturday on the lawn of Girona. Hit in the quadriceps, the French international came out in the 26th minute of play. His Barcelona partners won without him (1-0), scoring after his exit.

According to information from The team, Dembélé will be absent for five weeks because of the lesion which affected the anterior muscle of his left thigh. He should therefore miss the double confrontation against Manchester United, scheduled for February 16 and 23, in the knockout stages of the Europa League.

The Barcelona management hopes to compress the return period, without taking any risks. Xavi did not hide his disappointment. “It’s a shame, because he is one of our most decisive players, the one who makes the most difference”, regretted the FC Barcelona coach.

Especially since Xavi has never known the injured Dembélé since he officiated on the Barça bench. This season, the former Rennais has scored 8 goals and served 7 assists in all competitions. These performances allowed him to be selected for the World Cup in Qatar.

According to L’Equipe, Dembélé still has high spirits and is determined to join in the final sprint of the season. He should have the opportunity to take part in the Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Madrid, the home and away matches having been postponed to the beginning of March and the beginning of April respectively.
