Death of Roland Weller, former president of Racing Club Strasbourg and Sporting Schiltigheim

President of Racing Club de Strasbourg in the 1990s, Roland Weller died on the morning of Monday January 23, 2023. An emblematic figure of Racing, he has kept a special place in the hearts of club supporters. The Alsatian also marked the history of Sporting Schiltigheim.

Roland Weller died on the morning of Monday 23 January 2023. Emblematic President of Racing Club de Strasbourg between 1994 and 1997, he remains the last manager before the sale of the club to the Mac Cormack group.

First at the head of the Alsacienne de restauration which he founded, he directed the Sporting Club de Schiltigheim from the 80 before presiding over Racing, which he regularly took to the European Cup. We owe him the League Cup victory in 1997 and a Coupe de France final two years earlier.

From his life as president of Schiltigheim, we will remember the formidable course of Sporting during the Coupe de France in 2003.

Several Internet users are already campaigning for a tribute to be paid to the former president of the club during the meeting between Racing and Toulouse. Coincidence of history, it was against this same team that “Schilik” had won his round of 16 of the Coupe de France, almost 20 years ago years to the day.
