Who can actually stop this White Wings Hanau? The Hanau team also left the field as winners in the derby against the Fraport Skyliners Juniors. The 91:71 (32:28) success was the 16th in a row.

Frankfurt/Hanau – “Paradoxically, it becomes more difficult to find words after every game, because we don’t want to fall into superlatives,” admits Sebastian Köhnert, team manager of the undefeated leader of the 3rd basketball league, Division Pro B, after a moment’s thought.

In the first half, the spectators saw a relatively balanced game, with the White Wings already laying the foundation for the eventual victory with effectiveness at distance shots and a saddle-proof defense. To make matters worse from the point of view of the hosts from Frankfurt, the juniors got themselves into foul trouble early on and ex-white wing Marco Völler had to park on the bench before the final whistle of the second quarter because he had already been charged with four personal fouls.

Intense game: Many fouls by Skyliners Juniors

In addition to Völler, Jordan Samare and Nolan Adekunle were also fouled at the end of the game. “We played with a lot of intensity. The first half didn’t go perfectly, but at least we only conceded 28 points because we were good on defense and stuck to the game plan very meticulously,” was Hanau’s head coach Marti Zamora’s first interim summary of the 28:32 half-time score.

The decision was then made in the third quarter, because the table leaders also stepped up their game on the offensive. “If we put our foot on the gas pedal, most of the teams can’t keep up,” said Köhnert, commenting on the minutes in which his team pulled away decisively. Tim Martinez, Philipp Walz, Bruno Albrecht and Sebastian Brach were particularly successful from a distance and increased the three-way quota considerably.

White Wings decided the game in the third quarter

Despite the difficult situation, Frankfurt had not yet given up and fought again in the last part of the game to somehow come close. The Skyliners Juniors won the last quarter with 28:21, but that was by far not enough to catch up the immense deficit. In the end, the Hanau team deservedly won the game 91:71.

Albrecht and Furlong struck

In the 91:71 victory of the White Wings Hanau against the Skyliners Juniors Frankfurt, Hanau’s Bubba Furlong suffered a head injury and was out from the middle of the second quarter. In a duel, he “got the opponent’s elbow on his temple,” reports Hanau’s team manager Sebastian Köhnert. Furlong then “saw stars and got a headache”, which is why the center came to the hospital as a precaution. It remains to be seen whether further investigation is necessary, says Köhnert. He spoke to Furlong yesterday, who did not have to stay in the hospital, and who gave the all-clear. In addition, the White Wings are still worried about leading player Bruno Albrecht. The point provider has been complaining about pain in his left wrist for some time. This has already been sedated by a doctor, but the symptoms persist. “It may be that he needs an MRI,” says Köhnert, who believes that such injuries are not unusual at this point in the season. my

“It doesn’t matter what our opponents throw at us, we always find an answer,” says Köhnert, who is simply completely satisfied. Also with the fact that the minutes of play are well distributed between the individual players.

White Wings Hanau: Bruno Albrecht (22), Tim Martinez (10), Philip Hecker (5), Tom Arkan (2), Bubba Furlong (5), Gabriel Kuku (11), Simon Franke (2), Sebastian Brach (8), Philipp Walz (11), Marko Dordevic (2), Fabian Baumgarten (5), Soren-Eyke Urbansky (8)
