The city of Paris is hosting a Basketball Africa League (BAL) event called “Combine” from Sunday, consisting of a training camp and detection of young talents for the 12 clubs qualified for the 2023 season, learned the APS from the organizers.
Scheduled for two days, this meeting will take place at the training center “The One Ball”, built on nearly 4000m2 and considered the largest in the Paris region.
Thirty players from Africa, Europe, the United States and the rest of the world will take part in this event.
The agenda of this “Combine” includes physical tests, technical development activities by position and 5 against 5 matches in front of recruiters, coaches and managers of the 12 BAL teams.
According to the president of the BAL, Amadou Gallo Fall, the “Combine” of the BAL should allow the competing teams “to assess a larger pool of players, particularly from the African diaspora”.
The third season of the Basketball Africa League will start on March 11 at [Diamniadio] and will continue in Cairo and Kigali. Twelve basketball clubs each representing a country will take part in this season.
The teams will play 38 matches in Dakar, Cairo and Kigali from March 11 to May 27.
Each of the 12 BAL teams will have up to 13 players. The teams will be made up of eight local players and the nationality of the country represented.
Two of the other four must be born of African parents and evolve abroad. A spot is reserved on each team for an NBA Academy Africa prospect as part of the BAL Elevate program.
The 12 clubs will be divided into two conferences. The Sahara conference which will include a 15-match group stage and will take place at the Dakar Arena from March 11-21.
The Nile Conference, a 15-match group stage to be held at the Hassan Mostafa Indoor Sports Complex in Cairo from April 26 to May 6. The top four teams from each conference will qualify for the knockout play-offs to be held at the Basket Kigali Arena from May 21-27.
