The Competition Committee gives the reason to Osasuna and Villarreal and expels the Blaugranas and Spaniards from the tournament for the participation of Geyse Ferreira and Nagore Calderon, who drew sanctions from last season

Barcelona and Sevilla were eliminated from the Copa de la Reina. The Competition Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (FEF) sided with Osasuna and Villarreal in their claims for improper alignment, so that the red and yellow players qualify for the quarterfinals. Therefore, he expelled the blaugranas and sevillistas from the KO tournament for aligning Geyse Ferreira and Nagore Calderón, who each carried sanctions from last season.

Geyse Ferreira, one of the culé team’s signings for the current season, was sent off last year for double yellow cards in the match between Madrid CFF, his previous team, and Sporting de Huelva, while Nagore Calderón received a direct red card in the quarterfinal duel between UDG Tenerife and Sevilla.

The matches will count towards compliance with the sanction, so both may be aligned in the first match of the next edition of the Copa de la Reina, and both blaugranas and Seville may appeal the decision to the Appeals Committee within a period of ten days.

This opens the option for the rest of the teams against an intractable Barça in recent times. The blaugranas have five of the last six Copa de la Reina titles, the last three consecutively.
