Banner is placed at Atlético’s headquarters against possible investor of the club’s SAF

Atlético’s headquarters in the Lourdes neighborhood, in Belo Horizonte, dawned with an extended banner with the words: “Peter G. NO”. Peter Grieve is the name of the possible American investor in SAF do Atlético who owns “Football Co”, a company that has acquired Bantu Roves Football Club, from Zimbabwe, and Europa Point, from Gibraltar. Both with modest campaigns in their respective countries, which caused concern from the alvinegra fans.

In Brazil, Grieve’s name was linked to Botafogo when the team from Rio began the procedures to become SAF, in 2021. However, the team from Rio only got approval a year later, and the sale was confirmed to another American, John Textor, which bought 90%, with a minimum contribution of R$ 400 million.

Another frustrating case for the businessman happened in 2016, when Peter tried to buy the English team Hull City for the trifle of 80 million pounds, but the process stalled because the team gained access to the first division and the owners increased the request.

The Alvinegra SAF is about to be completed through a vote by the Deliberative Council of the Rooster scheduled to take place by March of this year.
