Badminton player Ahn Se-young advances to the round of 16 at the Malaysian Open

Ahn Se-young (21), a Korean female badminton player, advanced to the round of 16 at the International Badminton Federation (BWF) Malaysian Open.

Ahn Se-young defeated India’s Malvica Bansod 2-0 (21-9 21-13) in the first round (roof of 32) of the BWF World Tour Malaysia Open women’s singles held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the 11th.

Ahn Se-young, who failed to advance to the semifinals after losing to her archenemy Chen Yu-fei (China) in the finals of the BWF World Tour last December, got off to a good start with a victory in her first match of the tournament.

In the women’s doubles, Baek Hana-Lee Yu-rim paired the Thai calcaneal plate Kititarakul-Lawinda Prajongjai pair 2-1 (21-15 17-21 21-16) to advance to the round of 16.

In the mixed doubles, the pair Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yoo-jeong advanced to the round of 16 by defeating Hong Kong’s Chun-Hei Lee, Reginald-Nchez Yau pair 2-0 (21-17 26-24).

On the other hand, the women’s doubles pair Lee So-hee and Shin Seung-chan lost to China’s Du Yue-Xia Yuting and was eliminated. Men’s doubles team Choi Sol-gyu and Kim Won-ho also failed to advance to the round of 16 after losing to Team India.
