A first goal in the Netherlands for Djordje Mihailovic

Former CF Montreal player Djordje Mihailovic opened his account in the colors of AZ on Wednesday in his third match with the Dutch first division club.

The American wasted no time before shaking the ropes in the Netherlands. From the 57th minute, the 24-year-old scored by diving to head a ball after a perfect cross from Yukinari Sugawara. He helped his team to a 4-1 win over the Go Ahead Eagles.

Mihailovic spent two seasons in Montreal, in 2021 and 2022, and became a crowd favorite. He notably set a franchise record in his first campaign with 16 assists. He finished last year with seven goals and four assists.

Remember that his transfer, announced towards the end of the summer, would have brought in nearly 6 million euros, or more than $7.7 million CAN, for the Montreal club.
