Zidane’s strengths
At first, Brazilian officials wanted to bet on Pep Guardiola or José Mourinho. But the latter were too complicated to approach. Thus, after ruling out the two leads, Brazilian football decision-makers targeted the former Real Madrid coach, free of any contract. A status that would allow the Federation to save possible compensation.

The profile of Zinédine Zidane perfectly matches the requirements of South American leaders, according to our colleagues. The track also attracts former great Brazilian players. Ronaldo, for example, remains very influential and would do anything to convince the federation to bet on his former teammate at Real. Current players of the selection are also lobbying in the image of Vinicius Jr., Eder Militao and Rodrygo who rubbed shoulders with Zidane at Real Madrid. If he joins the Seleção, he would be the first foreign coach of the Brazilian team since Argentinian Filpo Nuñez in 1965.
