World – Argentina beats Poland (2-0) and finishes at the top of group C, the Poles opponents of France in 8th

Argentina confirms its renewed form in this World Cup, Poland will challenge the France team. After their inaugural defeat against Saudi Arabia, the Albiceleste chained a second success in a row, after having dominated from start to finish the partners of Robert Lewandowski, who held their breath all evening (2-0). First in Group C, the Argentinians will challenge Australia on Saturday at 8 p.m., while the White Eagles, qualified for the first time since 1986 in the round of 16 of the World Cup, will meet the Blues on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Czeslaw Michniewicz’s men achieved a great feat this Wednesday at stadium 974, but they owe it to a miracle. And especially to a huge Wojciech Szczesny, who kept his people alive in the first period, in a match dominated head and shoulders by Lionel Messi’s troops. The Argentinians finally forced the decision in the second half. But thanks to a goal difference greater than one in Mexico, the Red-and-Whites return to the knockout phase for the first time in 36 years.

No shot on target for Poland

Very quickly, the former Monegasque Kamil Glik saw his teammates being suffocated in their last 30 meters by a found Argentinian team. But Szczesny multiplied the parades (7th, 10th, 19th). The Juventus goalkeeper could have precipitated the defeat of his people, after contact with Messi in his area earned a generous penalty for Lionel Scaloni’s team.

But the Polish goalkeeper caught up with a magnificent parry right hand on the penalty of the sevenfold Golden Ball (39th). However, Poland was surprised less than a minute after returning from the locker room, on a perfectly placed recovery by Alexis Mac Allister (0-1, 46th). By dint of suffering, Poland saw its qualification hang by a thread after the achievement of Julian Alvarez (0-2, 67th).

While Mexico was leading at the same time by the same score against Saudi Arabia, the 2nd place of the White Eagles only held to three, then two less yellow cards received during this World Cup. Ghostly in front, since they did not frame a single time this Wednesday, the Poles finally had the happiness of passing, while Saudi Arabia came back to score just before the final whistle (2-1). If they want to hope to surprise the French reigning world champions on Sunday, they will still have to do much better at Al Thumama Stadium.
