WDR-Sport: BBL: Baskets Bonn end the year with a win

As of: 12/29/2022 9:59 p.m

At the turn of the year, the Telekom Baskets Bonn are leaders in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). A sovereign victory was achieved against the Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt.

On Thursday evening (December 29th, 2022) the Telekom Baskets Bonn impressively demonstrated with a sovereign 89:66 (40:27) victory against the Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt, which is why they lead the BBL table. Despite a partially unfocused performance in the first half in front of 6,000 visitors in Bonn Cathedral, the Rhinelanders didn’t give the Hessians the slightest chance. It was the eleventh win in twelfth league games this season.

The most important message after the first quarter from Bonn’s point of view was the fact that the TJ Shorts II, which had been outstanding in the end, had not scored a point. Nevertheless, his team had worked out a comfortable eight-point lead (22:14) with 22 points. The Frankfurters defended themselves as best they could, but the baskets showed their class again and again.

Tyson Ward, Finn Delany and Karsten Tadda used their chances under the opposing basket and showed why the Bonners have developed into a top team.

Bumpy first half

Still, TJ Shorts II got his first two points early in the second quarter, but it wasn’t the agile point guard’s evening. In the first half, things really didn’t go well for the Baskets, also because their playmaker didn’t really find his form.

But: The Frankfurters made too many failed attempts on the offensive, and the number of their defensive rebounds also decreased. And so the Bonners, who had a better quality, managed to extend their lead to 13 points (40:27).

Early preliminary decision

The picture did not change in the third quarter either. Above all, Ward knew how to convince on the side of Bonn. At this point, the small forward had already scored 22 points – setting his career record. In the end he had scored 29 points. After three quarters it was 68:47 for the hosts. A preliminary decision had already been made in favor of Bonn.

In the last quarter, the Bonners slowed down the game a bit. The Skyliners could no longer be dangerous to them.
