Prefectural Professional Baseball Player Exhibition Sports Tradition Museum

At the Wakayama Sports Tradition Center (directed by Tetsuji Egawa) on the 3rd floor of Fortewajima, a commercial complex in Honmachi, Wakayama City, an exhibition about professional baseball players with ties to the prefecture is open until January 9 next year.

It is held every year during the off-season to introduce exhibits borrowed from each team. This time, the 11th time, about 95 valuable items of 25 players are lined up, including the gloves and gloves of Torao Matsukawa, a catcher from Wakayama High School, who wore this year’s All-Star.

The uniforms of Shingo Kawabata, who won the Central League, belonged to the Tokyo Yakult Swallows and belonged to Ichi Wakayama High School, and Kotaro Yamazaki, who was born in Kinokawa City. The uniforms worn by Tensho Nonaka and Kaito Iriyama, who graduated from Hidaka Nakatsu High School, during their high school and college days are also on display.

Tetsuji Egawa, director of the museum, said, “I want the children who come to watch the games to become athletes like those displayed here.”
