Vuskovic faces a long ban: B sample from HSV professional also positive | Sports

The doping shock hit Mario Vuskovic (21) and HSV on November 11th. The defender and the club were informed about the positive A sample.

At a training control on 16.9. the Croatian had been tested for the banned substance erythropoietin (EPO).

Now the result of the B sample (opened on December 12) is also available. Also positive. The DFB explained: “Based on the analysis results of the B sample that are now available, it is assumed that there has been a violation of applicable anti-doping regulations.”

The DFB sports court takes over the case. Vuskovic faces a ban of up to four years. That would probably mean the end of his career for him.

HSV, which was informed on Thursday, “now wants to examine and determine the next steps in close consultation with its player and in exchange with the DFB”.

The lawyers check the test procedure. In the Volkspark you see some things nebulous in the processes, you don’t want to accept the result like that. Vuskovic continues to insist that he did not dope.

Problem: The burden of proof lies with him (and HSV). Players and club have to prove possible mistakes – if they still want to avoid the long suspension.

Even if the Hamburgers support the professional – at the same time they have to look for an alternative on the transfer market. In six weeks the 2nd league will start the second half of the season. At the start (January 29th), newly promoted Braunschweig comes to the Volkspark.
