He has been almost invincible in 2022, and in the final of the World Tour Finals, the Danish superstar underlined why he is the world’s supremely best badminton player.

Axelsen thus made short work in the final against Indonesian Anthony Ginting, who ranks as world number seven. Ginting was run around by the Dane in both sets and therefore had to see himself defeated with the numbers 21-13, 21-14.

It is the fourth time in his career that Axelsen can call himself the winner of the season finale, which also means that the 28-year-old Dane completes a completely fabulous year.

Just look at the titles he has won in 2022:

  • All England
  • EM
  • Indonesia Masters
  • Indonesia Open
  • Malaysian Open
  • VM
  • French Open
  • World Tour Finals

In Saturday’s semi-final, Viktor Axelsen was pushed to the limit, but on Sunday there was a different big profit to trace.

Axelsen was pushed hard in three sets in Saturday’s semi-final, but in the final the native of Fynbo had a different big advantage in his game.

In the end, he was also able to set off a dancing jubilation with the fourth triumph of his career at the season finale. He has previously won it in 2016, 2017 and 2021.
